Triptorelin is a synthetic decapeptide designed to mimic the action of natural GnRH. It binds to and activates GnRH receptors in the anterior pituitary gland, stimulating the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). Prolonged exposure to Triptorelin desensitizes these receptors, resulting in a profound decrease in gonadotropin secretion and subsequent suppression of sex hormone production (testosterone in males, estrogen in females).
