What Is AOD9604?

Oct 20, 2025 Leave a message

AOD9604 is a synthetic peptide fragment, comprising the final 15 amino acids of the C-terminal chain of human growth hormone (HGH). It was originally developed by researchers at Monash University in Australia with the goal of creating a compound that retained the beneficial fat-metabolizing properties of HGH without its negative effects on growth and insulin sensitivity.

The foundational hypothesis behind its creation was to isolate the lipolytic (fat-burning) region of the HGH molecule. While full-length HGH influences growth (via the liver production of IGF-1) and can disrupt glucose metabolism, the C-terminal fragment was believed to operate through a different, more targeted mechanism. Early research suggested it could directly stimulate lipolysis and inhibit lipogenesis (the storage of fat) by acting on pituitary and hypothalamic receptors that regulate metabolism, rather than the growth-promoting pathways.

The 2mg/vial presentation is a common research concentration, allowing for precise volumetric measurement and administration in experimental settings, typically after reconstitution with bacteriostatic water.
